We currently teach weekly Fun French classes at Buttercup Montessori Nursery in Broomfield. We plan to expand this service and offer French classes to other nurseries and pre-schools in the Chelmsford area. If your nursery or pre-school is considering offering French classes in the future we would be very happy to discuss your requirements. We offer a FREE taster session to local nurseries.

Un Petit Bonjour offers flexible service to nurseries

We aim to offer nurseries and pre-schools in Chelmsford a flexible service which will accommodate the needs of both large and small nurseries. Our pricing policy aims to make this service affordable to all. If your nursery’s requirements are not covered in the information below please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your particular situation.

Class Sizes

The smaller the class the more benefit children will get from the sessions. We would recommend class sizes of about 10 children and a maximum of 12. If you wish to offer French to a large number of children you will need to split them into more than one session. For example it would be far more beneficial to offer two sessions for 10 children rather than 1 session for 20 children.

Duration of classes and age of children

We suggest that for pre-school children (3-4 years) 30 minutes would be suitable. Children younger than 3 will find it difficult to concentrate for up to 30 minutes so if you wish to offer French to children of under 3 you will need to bear this in mind.

The minimum requirement is to book one 30 minute class per week. For larger nurseries who wish to offer French lessons to more than 12 children it may be advisable to book the teacher for a longer period of time. This will allow children to learn in smaller groups and also offers the flexibility of being able to cater for different age groups. For example you could book a 1 hour time slot and split this up into 30 mins for 3-4 year olds, 20 mins for 2-3 year olds and 10 mins for the Under 2’s. We are very flexible and would be happy to advise you on the best allocation of our time within your particular setting.

Staffing

Nursery staff are expected to accompany the French class and occasionally to assist us. Your staff know the children in their care well and it is helpful to us if someone is on hand to deal with any issues which may arise with individuals in the class, eg. children needing to use the toilet. It is important to ensure that others in the group are able to continue enjoying the class without too many interruptions! We also find that the children enjoy the nursery staff taking part and it reinforces the learning as your staff can learn the vocabulary and songs to sing with the children at other times throughout the week.

Materials and resources

We are able to provide additional materials which can be used either at nursery or at home. Through our members’ webpage you would have access to the vocabulary and songs that the children are covering each half-term. Parents of the children would also have access to this information and we award a certificate for every child at the end of every term detailing what they have learned. This enables parents to follow their child’s progress.

Affordable French Class Fees

Our classes are very affordable and often work out less than £2.50 per child.

Our minimum £30 fee is for a 30 minute class for up to 12 children (ie £2.50 per child for 12 children).

If more than 12 children wish to learn French we would split the children into two classes and offer the reduced fee of only £1.00 per extra child.
The more children taking part, the cheaper this works out.
For example, for 18 children (2 groups of 9) the fee would be £36 working out at just £2 per child, or for 24 children (2 groups of 12) the fee would be £42 working out at only £1.75 per child.
We consider these fees to be very reasonable for the service that we provide and in our experience parents value the classes and are more than happy to make a contribution to cover these costs. You will soon find that there are growing numbers of children whose parents want them to attend nursery on the day of French classes!

For nursery chains who book our classes in more than one nursery, we offer a loyalty discount of 5% for a second nursery and a 10% discount for a third and any subsequent nurseries.

Terms and Conditions for French Classes bookings by Nurseries

Fees are to be paid in advance either termly or in 10 week blocks.
Fees may vary at our discretion depending upon the nursery’s requirements particularly with regard to location, duration of classes and number of children. The above fees are for nurseries located within 10 miles of Chelmsford. If your nursery is located a further distance away from Chelmsford, we may have to make an additional fee to cover our travel expenses. Please call us for a quote. All fees are to be paid in advance and are non-refundable in the case of an individual child being unable to continue or the nursery deciding that they do not wish to continue with a block of paid lessons for any reason.

Four weeks’ notice in writing is required before the end of term if you do not wish to continue classes the following term.
Un Petit Bonjour will endeavour to give as much notice as possible should we need to cancel/rearrange a lesson. However there may be odd occasions when a lesson has to be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Wherever possible an alternative time slot may be offered. If this is not convenient to either party then a refund would be given.
